Johan Carrasco Monzón is a Peruvian cinematographer. He completed the regular program at the International Film and Television School in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, and received a scholarship from the Canadian government to conduct research on Indigenous experimental cinema at Concordia University. He participated in Berlinale Talents 2023 and Camera Studio at the Berlin Film Festival.
Their work has been presented at major international festivals such as TIFF, the Berlinale, Locarno, Visions du Réel, and Guadalajara, earning accolades such as the International Jury’s Special Mention at the 74th Berlin Film Festival for Through Clouds and Rocks. Other notable projects include The Hummingbird Paints Fragrant Songs, an official selection at the 51st TIFF; Punku, which premiered in the Forum section of the 75th Berlin Film Festival; and Heroínas, screened in the official short film competition at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.
He has also conducted digital cinematography workshops for the Peruvian Ministry of Culture and provides consultancy for projects at Acampadoc Panama and the BoliviaLab laboratory. He is a co-founder of the alternative cinema QINE in Cusco and a member of the Association of Cinematographers of Peru (DFP).
